You will often hear Carolyn say, “God is good!” Carolyn joined the Spirit of Joy team as the Office Administrator in 2014 and she is quick to note that each week brings new blessings, new faces, and opportunities to serve our SOJ family and community. Carolyn received her BA degree in Psychology in 1995 from ASU and has a background in the mental health and family ministry. Her lifelong hobby has been landscape design and all things connected with the great outdoors. Originally from Canada, then Minnesota, her family relocated to Arizona over 30 years ago and they love the heat. Carolyn and her husband Steve have three married children with beautiful families of their own. Our children, their spouses and grandchildren are a great source joy. “The wonderful people that minister and worship here at SOJ are truly my inspiration.”

Praise Band Director
I am glad to be a part of the music ministry at Spirit of Joy and am blessed to worship with an amazing group of musicians and singers here during the Contemporary worship service. I am passionate about helping bring familiar, good sounding, and worshipful contemporary music to the congregation each week. I started playing music at age fifteen by playing drums in the worship band my father directed. I have been playing at Lutheran churches all over the valley since. In addition to Spirit of Joy I also work for Alliance Residential Company in maintenance. I am currently enrolled at GCU to get a BA in Secondary Education, majoring in History. My wife Kate and I celebrated the birth of our son on June 27th, 2017.
