Leadership Team

Pastor Brian Cain

Where were you born?
I was born in Kansas City, Kansas and moved to Wisconsin when I was 11 years old.

Are you married? Any children?
I am so very blessed with my wife! She is so loving and wise. She brings out the best in me. We have 3 adult children and at last count 2 grandchildren who keep us very young!

Who is your sports team?
I would have to say – Go, Pack, Go! Not really sure what I will do when Aaron retires. And, I have to say, I love Clay Matthew’s work ethic. He just doesn’t give up!

Where did you go to school?
I actually attended Catholic school from 7th grade through High School (I needed it!) I earned my B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Steven’s Point. After working in the food industry and contract manufacturing,  I went to Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa for my Master of Divinity.

How did you end up in ministry?
It’s a God thing… I heard the first invitation to follow from a Pastor who I played racquetball with at the UW. I didn’t take it seriously, but some 15 years later, through some serious prayer, discerning, and conversation with friends and family, I responded to God’s leading. I am blessed to serve my Lord and to invite others to love Jesus.

What are you most passionate about?
I really love encouraging people and being a part of a team that is accomplishing great things – centered in Jesus, seeing people live into who God created them to be. Is there anything more joyful?  You will probably hear me say, “sure, we can do that”!

What do you do for fun?
Just put me in nature, preferably with some water, and if I could plant something too, that just might be bliss! Otherwise, I would be really happy just going for a hike or a bike ride.

What’s on your bucket list that you have yet to do?
Get a pilot license, fly somewhere and go skiing.

Deacon Janice Zimbelman

Where were you born?
Technically speaking, I was born in Redwing, MN but I grew up in West Bend, Wisconsin.

Are you married? Any children?
Yes. I met my husband, Glenn, online before it was cool to do so!  We live in Maricopa where he serves as the pastor of Maricopa Lutheran. We have 2 grown children. Our son and his wife live in Wisconsin, and our daughter lives in downtown Chicago.

Who is your sports team?
Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers, of course!

Where did you go to school?
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a B.S. in Physical Therapy. I worked in clinical practice for 10 years, went back for my Master of Science in Physical Therapy, and then taught Masters students for 8 years in Wisconsin. While teaching, I went back for my Doctorate (PhD) in Neuroscience. Yes, I’m a nerd and proud of it!

How did you end up in ministry?
While earning my Doctorate degree, I married my husband. Shortly after completing my Doctorate, we moved to a community near Cleveland, Ohio where Glenn served as a mission developer. While there, I felt called into ministry. It really is a God thing!

What are you most passionate about?
Helping people connect with our awesome God who loves us dearly. I have also discovered in all that I do that I really want to change the world. As people of God, we have the ability, through the Spirit, to do just that!

What do you do for fun?
I love being outside in God’s beautiful creation so camping, hiking, kayaking, or simply reading. I also love gardening (flower gardens)but find the desert climate not very conducive to that; I can’t bring myself to use all the precious water it would take.

What’s on your bucket list that you have yet to do?
Hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back up! And to see all the National Parks of the west.
